Newry provides an excellent base from which the tourist can explore and discover the many treasures and beauties of South Down and South Armagh. Nestling conveniently on the main route between Belfast and Dublin it is connected by road and rail to these cities and all other parts of Ireland. No major tourist attraction or airport is more than two hours away.

Once in Newry you have several options for 'getting around'. Hiring a car offers you most independence and mobility, and is recommended if you can afford the extra expense. Ulsterbus provide a comprehensive and (fairly) frequent service from Newry to all destinations in the area. Most buses run from the new bus centre at The Mall, Newry. Bicycles can also be hired in the town.
